different places in Brussels will give a view of Hans-Jürgen Syberberg’s work. The Cifas, an international training centre for performing arts, is proposing a workshop with this uncommon filmmaker. In the Filmmuseum and at the
Goethe-Institut will be shown a (Auswahl)
retrospective of his cinematographic work. These events are completed by an exhibition at the Goethe-Institut and citations from former space installations, presented at the Cifas.
The artistic oeuvre of Hans-Jürgen Syberbergs
is one of the most important of our time. His works testify evernew artistic expressions between cinema, litterature, theatre and contemporary art.

The german author and theatre director Einar Schleef, enigmatic artist who died in 2001, is in the centre (ein Thema) of this multimedia work. (Einige der gezeigten
Projektionen/Videos gehen aus früheren Schleef-Installationen von Hans-Jürgen Syberberg hervor (Neuhardenberg). dazu Zitate documenta, Kassel 1997 und Paris CP 2003.)

Poetics from Nossendorf – film at the age of the world wide web
“ Nossendorf, my childhood’s village in Eastern Germany. In the centre of the reflection : how to recreate a place of memory. In
this case[, the theme is about] the restoration of the village church. (Dargestellt) [Realized] by the technical and esthetical means that came out from cinema and internet. Everything will converge into one question: how to repair the open wounds of the recent history ? Practically

Discussions with Hans-Jürgen Syberberg about Nossendorf as an artistic project. Presentation of his works as well as films of chosen colleagues. Achievement of a space for projections.
Camera work following the common ideas of the participants. Direction and comments on the four cameras transmitting the images in live which are placed in Nossendorf. Creation of a daily notebook giving details about the work and
its developments on Cifas’ and Syberberg’s homepages.

[
Walter Sedlmayer convincingly plays Theodor Hierneis, chief cook of Ludwig II. In Syberberg's pseudo-documentary Hierneis takes the viewer on a tour through the king's castle explaining the strange life Ludwig led.] Der Film ist ein Monolog von Hierneis, Koch am Hofe von Ludwig II, der die Kamera und den Zuschauer durch die
Schlösser des Königs führt, dabei Anekdoten und intime Details erzählt , die genauso viel über ihn, wie über den König aussagen, dem er dient.

legendary for its daunting artistry and extreme ambition. The film ironically suggests that it will be the trial Hitler never had, the greatest show on earth, the [rehearsal] (Wiederholung) for the end of the world…

This film chronicles the life of the extremely popular 19th-century German novelist who lived from 1842 to
1912. Karl May’s copious output included dozens of adventure novels set in the [American] Wild West.

[An astonishing performance based on] (Edith Clever in) the novel of the german poet Heinrich von Kleist. (Edith Clever in der bekannten Novelle Heinrich von Kleists als
vierstündigen Monolog des gesamten Textes: 1799 fällt eine italienische Festung in die Hand des Feindes. In den Kampfhandlungen wird eine junge Witwe, die Marquise von O., die eben unter den Misshandlungen der feindlichen
Scharfschützen zusammensinken wollte, von einem der angreifenden Offiziere gerettet. Während die Marquise in Ohnmacht fällt vergewaltigt dieser sie. Später besteht er voller Reue darauf, sie zu heiraten. Die Marquise, die ihn als
