Dear Mrs. and Mr. Syberberg,
Here is the message (reproduced below) that I sent today to Facets
Multimedia. You may recall that in September 2002, I had sent a message
to you enquiring as to whether the film Hitler, ein Film aus Deutschland
was available on DVD, in North American format, with English or French
subtitles. At the time, Mrs. Helga Elisabeth Syberberg had replied that
it was not available then or would not be in a foreseeable future. I'm
extremely excited that the film will finally be released this month in
North America and I've already ordered a copy for myself. Many thanks
for allowing this to happen.

I've just discovered, after a routine check today on Internet (which I
expected to be in vain, as it had been for years, literally), that
Facets will release Hans-Jurgen Syberberg's "Our Hitler: A Film from
Germany" on November 27. I saw this exceptional movie for the first time
27 years ago, almost to the day, on November 9, 1980 (and a few other
times later in the 1980s). Since I started collecting DVDs, I've been
seeking, in vain and almost hopelessly til now, this phenomenal film. I
had even contacted the Syberberg five years ago, and Helga Elisabeth
Syberberg had confirmed to me, at the time, that the DVD was not
available then or about to be in a foreseeable future. I'm just extatic
that it has been saved and will resurface on DVD thanks to Facets. I've
already ordered a copy from Amazon and started spreading the word to
some friends. I hope this indispensable release will have great success
and diffusion, as it rightly deserves. Congratulations and a million
thanks for this splendid "coup"!

Hitler Start in den USA.Die erste Auflage (80Dollar) mit Susan Sontag Essay schon verkauft bevor sie auf den Markt kam, durch Vorbestellungen. Verzögerungen nach Korrekturen am englischen Ton nun abgeschlossen. Der Termin ist ein guter, heute das zu sagen. Ob sie das verstehen in diesem Land, mit Hitler im Film Symposien ohne diesen wie jüngst in der FAZ kein Aufmerken. Immer noch Nachsitzen.
