Ich habe Website Herrn Syberbergs jeden Tag seit März 2002 besucht.  Ich war sehr verwirrt, als ich nicht seinen Website für einige Tage letzte Woche finden könnte.  Besonders, betrachtend, daß Herr Syberberg und ich email gerade den Tag vorher schickten.  Was ist das Problem?  Wenn Sie irgendeine Beschwerde mit Herrn Syberberg haben, sollten Sie Ihr Beanstandung bestimmten bilden.  Ein website einfach zu schließen ist unmoralisch.  Sie sollten für solches Verhalten bestraft werden.

I have been visiting Mr. Syberberg's website every day since March 2002.  I was very confused when I could not find his site for several days last week.  Especially considering that Mr. Syberberg and I were sending emails just the day before.  What is the problem?  If you have some grievance with Mr. Syberberg, you should make your complaint specific.  Simply shutting down a website is unethical.  You should be punished for such behavior.

forced you to eliminate your films from your website.
Since you are constructing a Russian section of your website I am

Dear Herr Syberberg,
At last I have time to write to You, and tell more about the wonderful
reception of your Ludwig, Hitler and Parsifal films in the Finnish Film
Archive in Helsinki last spring. The first screenings of Hitler were sold
out. In every screening there were much more people than there are normally
in the film archive. In the most important Finnish newspaper Helsingin
Sanomat there were two articles on the Hitler film — before the screening,
and then also afterwards! This is quite rare in these days. (Also there
appeared a column in which it was said that Hitler film should at last have
its television screening in Finland.)
The most wonderful thing was, however, that after the screenings in the
film theatre many people unknown to me came to thank me for arranging this
event: I saw how Your films gave the audience a very deep experience
indeed. Even old cinephiles who had not seen Your films before were
enthusiastic.
After the series I was also asked to write an article on your work for a
magazine "Wagneriaani" which is published by a Finnish Wagner Society. I am
currently working on this article.
In addition, in the Finnish Film Archive they are interested in arranging
another series of Your films. The new series could consist of three more
films (I have thought at least of Karl May, Winifred Wagner and Die Nacht),
or perhaps it could even be a larger retrospect. In any case, now that they
have subtitled Hitler in Finnish (their biggest translation job ever) they
want to show it again. They would also be interested to invite You as a
special guest for this event.
Actually, the problem is the translation / subtitles. The films like
Winifred or Die Nacht are so long that there are no resources in the
archive for translating them into Finnish. Are there available film prints
of these (or other) works that would have English subtitles?
I have also some other questions for You. In the first place, which is the
right, or official, way to write Your first name(s)? Is it "Hans Jürgen"
or "Hans-Jürgen"?
Secondly, I am writing an article on the relationship between Wagner and H.
von Kleist. Do You perhaps have an idea if Wagner ever read the text "Über
das Marionettentheater"; or knew about the philosophical impact Kant had on
Kleist? And how about Nietzsche? Could he have known these things on Kleist?
A week ago I read Your Adolphe Appia text in which You explain Your works
after Parsifal, e.g. Die Nacht. At the moment I am trying to outline a
theory of future of art for the ending of my doctoral thesis "The Birth of
Meaning out of the Spirit of Mythos" (or more boldly: "...out of the Spirit
of Love"), and I found this particular text very illuminating in this
regard. This new art I would call as "neosymbolism", and its prime feature
would be turning back to "purely human" (while at the same time taking into
account the images, or the "image-machine", we have of this our "brain-
technological" age). This turning is what happens in your work with E.
Clever, so I see Your art as a pioneering work in this transition.
